Happy 5 months, precious baby boy!

I know I say this every month and I will continue to say it, but I cannot believe how fast time is going by! I almost can't believe, looking back at his newborn photos, that he was so small. He changes every day and I just can't get enough of him!

He has started sucking his thumb! It is too stinking cute. Before he would do it every once in a while, but that was usually when he was trying to fit his whole fist in his mouth. Yesterday he started sucking on his thumb for an extended period of time. And first thing this morning he did it again!

Daven likes bananas! They look a little funky since they instantly turned brown. But they still tasted good, because I tasted it! It's so funny to see his face at dinner though, when he gets his first few bites of veggies. It's like, "WTF? These aren't bananas! Maybe with the next bite...no! Aw damn, ok, I guess I'll eat it anyway."

We are still sleeping through the night! I know I need to transition him back to his crib again, but I just don't know that I can do it!

I think I might need to talk to the dr. again. It's not just the separation anxiety at bed time. I don't want to leave him anywhere for any amount of time. A and I really want to see Toy Story 3, but I can't bear to leave him. I seriously considered not going to a paid opinion study on Monday because I literally got nervous thinking about being away from him. When I think about having to get a job it makes me sick to my stomach. I'm not sure exactly how to get over/through this. I thought it would get easier as he got older, but so far this is not the case.

A's parents found this walker while they were cleaning out our basement this weekend. I cleaned it up and Daven really likes it. I wish I knew which generation used this last!

iHop always has toilet paper and paper towels on their changer area. This makes it difficult to change Daven.

This sling is a real help since Daven is getting heavy and my Moby wrap is not exactly summer-friendly.

Have I mentioned lately that I love being a mommy?

I always knew I was dependent on my phone, but the extent to which I am is staggering. Yesterday my phone didn't have service, so I had to spend all day without talking or texting anyone. It was terrible! I felt all anxious, thinking what if there is an emergency, what would I do? I got the new iPhone last night, though, so it's all good now. I need a case for it asap though, because it's glass and slippery and I'm so afraid I'm going to break it!

Last night Daven actually ate his peas! We thought for sure after he turned up his nose at them the night before that he wasn't going to have anything to do with them. But while we were at Longhorn celebrating my FIL's bday he ate all of his peas!

*A note to all the servers out there*

When a momma at one of your tables is feeding her child and asks you for an extra napkin, please do it, even if it means you have to unroll it from the silverware. Don't roll your eyes, walk away and then never bring a napkin back.

Seriously! I had to go to the bathroom and wet some paper towels to get the peas that Daven smeared off the table. If I knew that my server had to clean the table I would have left it out of spite, but I was being nice to the busboy.

*A note to anyone who interacts with my child*

Do NOT try to feed him cake or any other food that is not baby-appropriate! WTF?!

"Aw, it's not going to hurt him."

Fuck you! Don't feed my baby!

Grrr.

I'm having a brain fart on what else is going on, so I'll just give you some pics.

Eating some carrots.

Here are the peas I made.

The first go at peas - he was not a fan.

I've got more pictures, but bubby woke up. Time to play!

Poor baby boy. I can't stand that there is nothing I can really do to help his mouth. The Oragel seems to help a bit, even though Daven hates the taste. Well, it smells like cough syrup - I don't blame him! Grammy bought him some more teethers that chill in the fridge. I'm kind of afraid to take him out and about, though, because sometimes when he's crying it takes a while to get him to calm down. Although if I was out shopping and brought my sling that would be ok since he's the most calm when we're standing. But out to eat makes me a bit apprehensive.

Daven is still grabbing his feet. It's so cute! Yesterday he was sitting in the bouncer in the bathroom while I pottied. I bent down, held out my arms and asked him if he was ready to go back in the living room and he smiled and threw his arms up! It melted my heart!

He thinks that mommy and daddy are funny. A makes this silly noise that get Daven laughing almost every time! And he loves it when I pretend I'm going to eat his neck. Yes, silly noises are involved in that too.

I made some baby food peas last night. It was surprisingly easy. I cooked a small bag of frozen peas in the microwave and then blended them up. I didn't even have to strain them! Daven gets to try them tonight. I'm not sure how that will go. A and I stuck up our noses when I was making it last night!

Here's a reminder to clean anything that you get used. A few weekends ago my MIL bought Daven a jumperoo. I put him in it that day for a minute to take a few pics. He hasn't been in it since. Well I finally got around to cleaning it today. I took the seat off and put it in the washer and scrubbed the rest of it down with my green cleaner. I didn't think it was too bad until I found out that the front part with the toys and the sound comes off. I took it off and there was old dried puke in there! Bleck! Turned my stomach! Thankfully I was able to get it all cleaned.

Well, we've got to get ready to meet grandma and Lauren for lunch. And blogger won't upload my pictures. Grrr. Oh well, I'll try again later. I'm hoping Daven doesn't feel too bad the rest of the day.

A sent me a few pics of the family with Daven from over the weekend.

Great Grandpa

Yesterday Daven went swimming. He's already outgrown his first swimmy wear, so he's got a new outfit now.

He's still a bit too small for the float, so I held him up.

After he'd had enough of the float, he fell asleep on grammy in the pool.

I got a few pictures of Daven eating his carrots last night. Aunt Lacey was so glad she got to feed him!

Daven is still a bit fussy, and spitting up more than normal. His bottom gums are red and swollen :( I've got to take care of the boy.

Daddy's 1st Father's Day!

I hope you had a good day, A. I know that holidays are exhausting and we didn't get to spend much of it at home, but Daven and I love you more than anything!

Daven has been chewing on anything he can get his hands on.

He still hasn't quite figured out how to jump in his doorway jumper, but he still has a good time spinning around.

I really hate the way I look in this picture, but I think it's so cute that Daven is "petting" Oreo.

He's had a rough couple of days, and we think it's because of the teething. He's been having a terrible time getting to sleep when he's tired. We tried the mesh feeders with an ice cube in it and he loves it at first, until his mouth gets too cold. My mom got him a teether that he seems to like.

After a couple of days eating sweet potato, Daven had carrots last night. He really liked it! I'm not sure what veggie I'm going to make for him next. I think I might go ahead and make some fruit too the next time I cook so that we'll have it when he needs it in a week or two.

Daven discovered last night that soda cans are cold. This morning he reached out for my coke can (yes, I started my day with one) and he kept touching it. So cute! He's also getting to the point where if he's playing with something and you take it away, even if it's just his own shirt he's chewing on, he'll get upset. Also, sometimes he'll cry because he doesn't want to be held.

Daven was happy this morning, rolling on his side and grabbing at his feet and ankles. He's been sleeping so well this past week! Keep it up, baby boy!

Family, toes, sweet potatoes, and pics

Last night's dinner was a success! We ended up doing BBQ chicken, baked beans, corn, and potatoes. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures :( I was so busy enjoying everyone's company that I didn't get out my phone.

Daven ate some sweet potatoes last night for the first time. I was pretty awesome that everyone got to experience it with us. Alma held him while I fed him. I just wish daddy could have been in there for all of it. He was in and out because he was grilling our chicken for dinner.

After the family left, Daven was tuckered out.

Yesterday afternoon, Aunt Lauren bought Daven a new toy and he LOVES it! He's been playing with it and chewing on it since we first cleaned it and gave it to him. Yum yum blue crinkly elephant!

Aunt Lauren hanging out with bubby

Daven slept well last night and we had a great surprise when he woke up at 4 am to eat - he found his toes! A few times over this past week when he was sitting up on daddy's lap he would grab at his feet. But last night/this morning he brought his feet up and grabbed them! Yay baby boy!

When he woke up for the day at 7:30 he was such a happy camper, and already reaching for his feet again!

Now he's already sleepy and taking his first nap.

I'm so glad it's half day Friday! And Father's Day is this weekend :)
